2017 Napa Valley Barrel Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
TASTING NOTES:
Our 2017 Barrel Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon begins with aromas of blackberry jam, nutmeg, and savory spices. Flavors of black current, toffee and baking spices are followed by bold tannins with a long fruit finish.
WINEMAKER NOTES:
Our Barrel Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is primarily sourced from vineyards located in the mountains with valley floor vineyards to round it out. Atlas Peak has rocky and volcanic soil which allows the grapevines to produce concentrated and flavorful grapes. Howell Mountain is especially well suited to growing intensely flavored Cabernet Sauvignon due to the combination of volcanic, iron laden soils and high elevation. The soils are especially lean which naturally limits the vigor of the grapevines, concentrating the flavors contributing to the intensity of the finished wine. The Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from Diamond Mountain contributes black fruit aromas and flavors. The valley floor vineyards bring balance to the wine and adds acidity.
